Overview
“The sewers in the city have a rust and blood odor. The streets are lined with portraits of the rich and powerful, trying to hide the horrible crimes they have committed.”
“Is it truly brightness and warmth that meets you after suffering?”
Mayfly by JasonTon is adult game about The only megacity in the nation, Devon, serves as the setting for the narrative. Devon, plagued by a stark disparity in wealth, finally split into the Uppercity, home to corporate executives and corpos, and the Undercity, home to gangsters, including triads, and factory workers.
Ten years ago, people in and around the city, especially teenagers, experienced the abrupt emergence of superpowers due to an unexplained phenomenon. However, when these superhuman people began to engage in criminal activity, this unexpected development posed a serious challenge for the government. Because of the pervasive inequality, they specifically targeted the Upper City, engaging in crimes like kidnapping and killing affluent people.
The Vigilante Act and the Superpowers Act are two laws that the government is forced to enact in order to combat the rising crime rates. The former allows a select group of people with superpowers to fight crime beyond the scope of conventional law enforcement, while the latter treats superpowered people differently from ordinary people by removing age restrictions and creating special prisons for them.
Superpowered crime in Devon has gradually declined over time as a result of the state-funded Vigilantes who are in charge of enforcing the law. But as the Vigilante force grew, the scales began to tip, with some Vigilantes harboring ulterior agendas emerging as a fresh source of unrest in the city. Furthermore, Devon has not produced any new superpowers since the initial surge of superpowers. As a result, there is an increasing call from the public for the Vigilante Bill to be repealed and a shift in the public’s view of Vigilantes from that of heroic figures to one of criticism.
As a Vigilante, in this kind of environment, are you really going to allow other people to decide your future? The answer, in my opinion, is categorically “Never.” All of your decisions, big or small, seem to matter in the long run because they affect the bonds and coalitions you build along the way.
Is it to live fleetingly like a mayfly in this superficially vibrant city, or to leave a lasting legacy as a legend in the streets?
“The power to determine your destiny rests in your hands.”
